Happy Monday
As you probably know these emails get to you thanks to a clever piece of software called an autoresponder.
When you subscribed for the video series that originally brought us together the autoresponder kicked in. It instantly sent a thank you email then the timed series of emails containing the links to the videos.
It allows you to pre programme emails to go out at certain times and do lots of other things including sending newsletter type emails like this whenever you want.
It can do this for a limitless number of email addresses but has some pretty tight rules around what it can and cant do.
You can’t for instance just load in a list of email addresses you have somehow acquired. Thats called spamming and it sucks. Thats why when you subscribe to something - via this autoresponder at least - you l get an “Are you sure you want to subscribe” message before you continue.
It also insists that a subscriber can unsubscribe at any time.
There are a number of autoresponders out there. I use and always recommend Aweber which you can look at even do a free trial of here
I recently tried a competitor (Mailchimp) for a project a friend and I are working on and it was awful.
It cost more - unlike Aweber you needed to pay a monthly fee up front before you could use most of the features.
Aweber is free for your first 500 subscribers and you get all the features. By then you should be be making at least enough money to make the small monthly fee negligible.
Its also very easy to get to grips with and use with lots of easy to follow guides and tutorials included.
Mailchimp was mind meltingly complicated and had very little decent help content.
Autoresponders are almost as important to an internet business as websites so its important to have a good one
If you have an email list you need to be doing this - check out Aweber here - thank me later : )
Bests
