Hi
Unless you were potholing you can’t have failed to see the fuss around Facebook (and Instagram and Whatsapp) literally disappearing for nearly six hours
You may not even understand why that cost the Company itself around $79 million and who knows how much it cost Facebook advertisers.
You see Facebook is now the second largest advertising platform on the planet.
If you advertise on Facebook you pay according to how many people see your ads. If no one can see ads for 6 hours Facebook can’t charge their advertisers
The advertisers lose 6 hours worth of audience. For some of them that can equal a huge loss of income.
Especially if they have all their eggs in the one basket - Facebook ads.
Personally I don’t do Facebook or Instagram advertising. I used to but I didn’t like the way they constantly changed the goal posts with little or no warning.
To be fair that happens on other platforms too and that’s why as the old saying goes - you should never put all of your eggs in one basket.
I and very glad that when I was learning Internet marketing my trainers and mentors stressed this while providing training on all the advertising platforms out there
As well the very different psychology each has.
But here’s a BIG SECRET for you …..
A great many of the people advertising on most platforms are getting it wrong. That presents a massive opportunity for anyone who gets it right
And it’s not that hard.
Let’s take Youtube. I do both paid and free Youtube video marketing.
I like it because I understand that millions of people go to Youtube to learn something. Education is one of the best categories to choose when you upload a video.
So isn’t it just common sense - if you want to advertise to those people - that you advertise something they would be interested in?
Something relevant to what they searched for?
You can choose exactly where you want your ads to be seen with Youtube. You can even choose a selection of videos you want your ad shown on.
Yet when I’m on Youtube to learn something or watch a music video, the ads I have to put up with are utterly irrelevant to me or the content I was watching
I watch a comedy video and get shown ads for expensive wrist watches
or ads for athlete's foot treatments when I watch a music production video ?????
Hence - like you probably - I’m just paused over the “Skip” button waiting for those 5 seconds to end
or utterly ignoring the ads I’m forced to watch.
One of the most valuable things I learned was that people really do respond to these ads when they are actually relevant.
And if you make free videos that are specific to a search term like - “How to work online from home”, guess what?
When people find your video they will probably watch it and may well take action on it.
Anything you invest in learning this stuff will pay you back many many times over.
