Hi
Hope you are well
While I was talking to an old friend and ex colleague on the phone the other day we mentioned someone we both worked with.
I mentioned that he was the key to my band at the time securing a support tour with a favourite band of mine who had reformed (All About Eve)
He was also a fan and told me they were playing in town and did I fancy going.
Definitely, I answered but I’d rather support them.
So after a little digging around I found their management and made an approach by email.
They came back to me asking for a demo tape the band could listen to. They liked it and so we played 5 support gigs with them all over the UK and a at big festival thanks to their recommendation.
Thinking about that, it occurred to me that everything great in life comes from an approach.
If you don’t ask you don’t get in other words.
It’s true for everything from relationships to …..well meeting and playing with your heroes
This is basically what affiliate marketing/internet marketing is too.
I recently bought 3 canvas prints of my photographs from a very cheap printing company. I wanted to see if the quality was good enough to sell them.
Turned out it was and I sold one on Facebook marketplace at a price - still a bargain to the customer - that paid for all three.
But this is a tedious, slow and inefficient way to sell big physical objects. They have to be packed carefully and posted for a start.
So I approached the printer to ask if they offered Print on Demand. They do. So I signed up with them at no cost and will add a portfolio to my partner’s home decor website.
That means I can send traffic to the images and if they sell the printer will take care of the rest.
This email, social media posts, websites, videos and online ads are all just forms of approaching people if you think about it.
If you do it right, the results can be life changing for all concerned
What can happen? They say no - big deal, move on.
If you don’t do it at all nothing will happen.
Because of this I’m very approachable too. So if you have questions about anything I talk about or recommend in these emails - just drop me a line.
Bests
Dave
