So I spent most of Friday revisiting my old life. I was asked by an old friend if to do autocue at a high profile event he looks after.

It had been more than 6 years since I'd done that and when I got to grips the autocue equipment it made me very aware of how much technology has moved on. It was the same kit I used all those years ago!

So long story short there were some problems. Everything worked out in the end as it always does but there were some seat of the pants moments  for sure. 

The clunky old technology was one reason for that but the main reason was last minute script changes made by the presenters. 

That made me think about some of the books I've read over the years: Books by people like T Harv Ecker, Robert Kiyosaki and Napoleon Hill. 

If you've read any of those you'll know that they stress the fact that success, achieving your dreams, reaching your goals in life depends hugely on YOU taking control. 

Running autocue for other people is basically the exact opposite of that: It's their script, their words and to an extent they are in control. If they decide to stray from the script the autocue operator just has has to run with it.

On the other hand if you are the presenter using autocue what do you do if the system breaks down (as it did for me on Friday night)?  

The real pro's are prepared for anything - they are self reliant. They learn their script, bring notes to the lectern and are ready for anything. 

It's this idea of self reliance that SFM is all about. It's as relevant to autocue as it is to running an online business. 

When you master a valuable skill that can be translated to any area of life your set for life. I was taught to operate autocue equipment when I was a technician for a big AV company. That was for a specific roadshow but I became the "autocue guy" from then onwards. 

Now I'm self employed so when jobs like this come up I'm free to take them. It's quite enjoyable, well paid and usually means catching up with some old mates who are still in the events industry.

As my experience on Friday highlighted though - I'm not really in control as I am with my SFM business and the other online businesses their teaching has helped me create. 

I really don't think there is anything else you could do that offers the same freedom. But only if you look at it from the point of view of developing self reliance - not relying on any particular business or affiliate programme but having transferable skills that can be applied to anything online. 

When you realise that this is actually what SFM is all about you'll stop looking at MLM. network marketing or Franchise opportunities because you'll know that this is all you need.
