Don't worry - it's not true ! It does remind me of a funny story though from back when this joke was doing the
rounds…..
At that time - about the time when Stuart and Jay were just getting started building their online empires - I was working with an audio visual company.
Audio visual techs are known to be fond of practical jokes by the way. So when one of the guys found that
jokey post we decided to play a joke on a newer member of staff.
Bridget from New Zealand was a young but very ambitious project manager. When not busy she was fond, as we all were, of surfing the net - sometimes when she/we should have been working.
While she was
out at a meeting we brought the above page up on a laptop and fed it to her computer monitor. So her monitor wasn't attached to her computer but someone else's. We also set up a video camera to film the results.
When she got back she immediately switched on and tried to log in. All she could see however was the last page of the internet. No matter what she did, that's
all she could see.
We strung her along for ages before the penny dropped then we played the film of her confusion and panic, again through her monitor.
Bridget took it all in her swing and we all had a good laugh.
Weirdly I got a LInked notification this morning about Bridget. She has moved back to NZ and got herself a great job apparently. This had always been her goal so as always the last laugh goes to the people who single-mindedly follow their dreams.
I imagine the rest of the guys (the ones
who haven't been made redundant that is) will still be larking about, doing what they always did. Getting older and earning about the same.
Two points from this:
1.The internet has grown and grown and grown since then. It has in fact created a entire new economy that
makes anything possible for people who have big dreams.
2. People who have big dreams and stick with them no matter how tough or how long it takes always get what they want.
My friend Bridget worked for 5 years to get hers. She worked very long hours, put up with all
the crap that young women have to in a male dominated industry and has now got what she wanted.
It just doesn't need to be that hard anymore: With a laptop, a big dream and the right mentors, systems and training the world is our oyster.
What Stuart and Jay have
built with SFM and DEA offers anyone who has a big dream the training and tools to get it. All you need to do is get started with a risk free application.
Nothing to lose - not even $29.95 (the price of a few Starbucks lattes') - Everything to gain. Go for it like Bridget!
