Sometimes its the small things that make "living the laptop lifestyle" so priceless - so worth the effort.
Today for example I was sipping my morning coffee while watching the rush hour traffic go by the window and thinking about what I wanted to do today I got a text message.
It was from a friend asking If I fancied catching up for a coffee at 11. I didn't think twice and just replied yes. He had suggested a local cafe and
arts venue that I often go to work from for an hour or two anyway.
I made a little video on the way
So we met and after a couple of lattes wandered down to the gallery where he has some paintings on display. I got
chatting to the gallery owner and as soon as I mentioned digital marketing he passed me his card.
Turns out that he really wants to get a website and Facebook page and to start building a list of subscribers. I can do all that for him so an out of the blue coffee turned into some potential business.
I love that casual, unpressurised kind of networking. It's so unlike the awful corporate version of business that I used to have to do.
It's mornings like this that drive home to me how great it is to be part of the digital life. To just be you. Its really quite effortless.
This is actually how Stuart Ross, Jay Kubassek and all the other industry greats live
(though an a very much bigger scale!) and its the approach that runs through everything they teach about being a modern digital entrepreneur.
There is simply Zero bullshit. None of that hard sell nonsense (Buy my stuff!! Buy my Stuff!!) - its more a case of telling people - look this is what I have, this is what it can do for you, this is how you can get it.
You
have my contact details so lets grab a virtual coffee sometime? You choose when.
