When I started to see the benefits of working online and saw the potential it offered me to live life on my own terms, I made a bucket list of the things that would actually mean to me personally.

One of things I decided first was that I would have Mondays off.  I'll tell you why. 

Like most people I had lived my life according to a pattern I had absolutely no say over. It started when I was a child, progressed through school and continued into my working life. 

That pattern meant working Monday to Friday and having 2 days off to do with what I liked. Even that's not strictly true is it? At school I often had homework to turn in on Monday and at work I often had to work at weekends. 

But basically I was allowed 2 days per week to be with friends and family, pursue hobbies and passions, get things done at home that needed done and everything else in my real life. 

The point is that Monday becomes that dreaded day when it all starts over again. So I promised myself I'd have Mondays off as soon as I was able to. So now I do - unless I WANT to work of course. 

You might think that this only means that Tuesday becomes my Monday. That's not really the point though. Its more a symbolic thing for me. Just a celebration of having found a way to break out of a system that I never chose. 

The same system that dictated when I could take holidays and how long I could take them for.  

Example: In my last job I remember being restricted to taking holidays only when the schools were on holiday. This was because those were the quiet times work-wise in that industry - because most people were on holiday - because the kids were off school. 

Myself and my partner don't have kids! But still we ended up paying more for our holidays and having to go abroad when the places we wanted to go to were busiest and most expensive.

Even if we did have kids - what if they were pre-school age or grown up and living their own lives? We'd still have had to put up with paying more and fitting into a system that didn't really apply to us. Crazy!

Don't get me wrong - I am and always have been a worker. I work harder now than I ever did when I was in a  job - and people used to call me a workaholic then ! It's 7am on a Saturday as I write this. 

That's because I woke up with a ton of ideas and wanted to get them out there. It's because I work for me and the people I'm helping to do the same.

I'm not an anarchist - I don't want to "break the system", and I'm a huge believer in education. I just want to live my life in a way that suits me better and that is possible now.  

I probably couldn't have done this without SFM and the SFM community if I'm honest. I did try for a couple of years with different online ideas but I didn't know what I was doing. I knew I needed to get educated properly and that what SFM has and is doing for me.

So if you have that Monday feeling coming on and deep down you know you could do better for yourself - Do It Now!

If you are telling yourself you are wasted in what you do now - maybe other people have even told you this. If you have talents, skills or ambitions that you are not getting the chance to fullfill - do something about it. 

It's a new world people! There are endless possibilities now that weren't there 10 or even 5 years ago. The SFM is just a vehicle to get you there - to become self sufficient by leveraging those possibilities. 

Everyone that has joined through me has got in touch with me - we've had long conversations via email or on Skype.

 Sometimes it was weeks or even months later before they took the plunge - doesn't matter - if I can just get this message across to people who genuinely want to change their lives then my job, my mission, is done. 

I've recently decided that my new slogan - my brand if you like is this "Building Yourtopia". What's yours?
