One of my friends Satya - an SFM member and one of our Tuesday night hangout panel recorded a series of interviews with some of of the longer term SFM members at an event in London.

It was the SFM and DEA Gold event in fact - a 2 day event for people who have positioned at Gold level. Gold's a very good place to be both financially and because of the expert one-to-one mentoring and additional coaching you get.

Anyway, I caught one of her interviews yesterday and one point stood out for me. 

Satya asked the interviewee (Steve) what he says to people who ask him "How do I know this for me?" 

Steve said that's a tricky one - he usually turns the question around and asks some questions: What do you want out out of life, do you want more time, more freedom, a better income, more control? 

Do you need more money to do the things you want to do - to live life the way you want? - He asked Satya the same thing.

Her reply was interesting (as always) She said that she was already earning enough to do the things she wanted but that the things she wanted to do changed. 

Satya is actually a freelance translator so to some extent she was living a kind of laptop lifestyle. She just needed a laptop and an internet connection to get her work done. 

The trouble is that as with many things these days, her earning are nothing like as good as they were. Budgets for her services have dropped. She likes to go on spiritual retreats several times a year to far off places. 

When she decided she wanted to do more of that but was now earning less from the translation work she decided to look for other ways to earn income. That's when she found SFM. 

So you see everyone is different - that's definitely the case within the SFM community. 

Most of our community are intelligent people - they recognise the potential of working online and many are building businesses "on the side" till they can get to the point where they are financially independent of their boring or less well paid day jobs. 

Satya and Steve are my kind of people. By that I mean they are true individuals. They will not settle for a so-called "normal" life. They also know that they can't do this alone - it's much easier and more fun in the company of amazing mentors and like-minded people. 

I'm a champion for that and luckily the internet is a place where smart, hard working people with big dreams can thrive.
