On Friday my partner and I took advantage of the hot spell that's come to Scotland and headed for the beach. 

We'd forgotten that the schools are off and loads of people are on holiday so it was busier than usual on a "work day".

Anyway we still had a great day and I was reminded of several things - old sayings that are as true for a day on the beach in Scotland as they are for life and business.
