If you are UK based you might be familiar with the BBC's One Show? 

It's basically a magazine type show that's on every evening at 7pm. It's quite weird as it sometimes just bounces around from one random topic to another - actually that has become a standing joke amongst the guests that appear on the show. 

Sometimes though they feature something that just grabs me - like last night.

There is an story going on in the UK about an inspirational  letter that a headmaster sent to his pupils. 

The One Show's regular presenters did a nice little follow up on which they wrote a similar letter to themselves. It took form of the advice they would give their younger selves now with the benefit of hindsight. 

The show's guests Billy Ocean and comedian Lee Mack talked about what they would tell their younger selves now. 

What they all had in common was that despite most of them having had poor academic histories and their fair share of disappointments when young, It all worked out well in the end. 

Because they followed their hearts and passions. 

We live in a society that trains us to follow certain paths - certain ways of living - a one size fits all set up. 

One size really does not fit all and it's a shame that so many people waste so much time trying to conform to this system: trying to please others, do what they're "meant" to do.

We are lucky to be seeing an age where all that is changing. In the new economy we can build a lifestyle business all around what WE want - what we are good at and what we love doing.

It's never too late to start and there are no exams to pass. You can pick up the skills and training at your own pace. The SFM understands all this and in many ways that letter sums up what it's all about.
