When was the last time you bought a new car from a dealership? We did it yesterday - my god ! what a long winded process. We had to endure every sales trick in the book even though
we had decided what we wanted and what we were going to pay.
These guys still seem to feel the need to go through the sales training manual. You know the script - "What do I need to do to get your business?" - "You won't get this car cheaper anywhere in the Uk?", "Hang on I'll just see if I can persuade my manager to do a deal with you"... etc etc..
The
thing I like best about doing business online - both as a customer and as an online marketer is that it's completely free of all the tedious sales games that you need to go through in the traditional world of business.
As a customer you can do your research and due diligence in your own time and when you feel ready to buy you can then make contact or buy the product or service you are interested
in.
As an online marketer there is no chasing people on the phone or working through the A-Z sales manual. You just accept that some people will get what you are saying or feel that they like something about you - others won't. So you just get on with it and get your messages out there.
With this approach I find that the people who do engage with me
always turn out to be people very like me. They, like me, hate the phoney, bullshit that you often encounter when buying things the old way. I'm just using car dealers as an example from recent and past experience.
Of course with online marketing there is a sales process. You need to make your offer attractive to people but the big difference is that you don't need to do that in person. Not at first anyway. People will make
up their own minds. I don't know about you but I far prefer that approach.
When you first look at SFM, you'll probably first see one of Stuart and/or Jay's landing pages - probably a video. You'll form an opinion about them. You might be turned off by them right away (Lets face it Stuart could talk for the olympics! ) Or you might just see a couple of cool guys with a great message.
As an affiliate marketer you are sort of in the middle of this process. I love that. What this means is that I can put myself into the mix no matter what I promote. I did a landing page video recently (you might have seen it - that might be why you're here) that I aimed at entrepreneurs in Glasgow.
I basically introduced myself as an affiliate of SFM and then introduced Stuart and Jay. If you
entered your email you THEN went to the SFM video thanks page. Why?
Well if I'm promoting SFM to people from my Home town of Glasgow with a picture of a famous Glasgow landmark (The statue of the Duke of Wellington with a traffic cone on his head in this case - an iconic Glasgow image) and the first person they see is a fast talking pretty boy from England it's not going to work...
But - if that person sees a video of me talking to them with my Glasgow accent from another iconic Glasgow location, and I introduce Stu, it makes more sense.
PS.
Stuart Ross is actually quite a quiet guy in person. He's also very funny and he knows he can go on a bit, so he won't mind me calling him a fast talking pretty boy - all the same maybe just
keep that between you and me ; )
Cheers !
Dave
