Are you hungry?...

Two great conversations yesterday. The first with my SFM sponsor Mark and the second with my friend Al who joined SFM through me and who I spend an hour a week with on a video call.

Mark gives me an hour a week of his valuable time to help me grow my online SFM and other businesses. He's a genius blogger and has an amazing approach to building his online business without spending money.

He does this through a blogging system he has developed - if you are writer like me then this is gold dust. Mark left his career as a lawyer to start his online business - He's SFM through and through and has done extremely well in the last 2 years.

He also has a portfolio of properties he manages but over the last few years that has actually been a very costly proposition - hence the desire to build other income streams online.

He's now  at the stage in his SFM business where he will need to outsource some of his writing - he asked if I'd be interested - for pay.

Mark's about to start another series of bloggs around an interesting subject. Basically he's fascinated by why people who look at starting an online business - take the first step but don't go any further.

In the case of SFM that would be signing up for the free video series and making an application.  That's really just the beginning of the story though. Its a bit like going into a restaurant and ordering a starter.

Would you expect to get the main course, desert, wine, ambience and coffee thrown in? When he put it that way I thought it was a great analogy. I guess it depends how hungry you are.

If you just have a starter - you're not really very hungry. If you go for the full meal - specialities of the house, best wine, amazing desert - you really were hungry - you wanted it all.

The starter with SFM costs $29.95 but this is the equivalent of a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Like 3 star restaurants if you don't like it you get your money back. Unlike them however you get 30 days to peruse the full menu and still get your money back if you don't feel hungry enough to really get stuck in!

                                            <<<<<Get the starter>>>>>

Second conversation with Al - he's from a military background followed by many years as a successful entrepreneur and publisher. His story is personal so I won't go into that - suffice to say he's had some hard times and has lost more that most of us will ever achieve.

We have amazing weekly chats. We have a lot in common. Al's using his digital marketing skills now to build a magazine website and I'm priviledged that he has asked me to write for it and possibly be the editor.

We were emailing back and forth yesterday and I sent him a couple of lyrics and poems I wrote ages ago. His last email yesterday really got me thinking.

He said isn't it amazing how both of us in different ways have always been creative and have always wanted deep down to be writers. Both of us though, in very different ways did everything but write. No money it we thought. So we focused on other things.

We now find ourselves many many years later doing just that. It's like we were just building up the experience to have something to write about.  You can't escape from yourself it seems.

I never thought writing for at least part of my living would be in the areas of blogging and writing advertising copy but there you have it. Made possible by the new economy and finding a place to learn the skills to function in it.

I also have the time to get back to the 3 novels I've started !

So what I'm trying to say is that all three of us got to crossroads in our lives. Mark hated his career and his property biz was bleeding him dry. Al lost his considerable fortune thanks to the recession and I got made redundant.

All of us at a time in life (49-56) where it would have been very difficult to start again if it wasn't for the digital economy never mind to create successful businesses and enviable lifestyles.

This for me sums up why I am so thankful to have found SFM. I couldn't or wouldn't have learned the necessary skills with out it. I also would never have met people like Mark and Al - or the many other fascinating, clever people all over the world that I now count as friends.

So guys - how hungry are you? Just having the starter? or are you as hungry as the three of us are? (we can advise on the menu by the way - we've tried it all - delicious!)

Bon appétit  !
