Dave's bonus - Day 4 - Video Marketing
Video marketing - on Youtube in particular has become a very powerful way of getting your message across. There are lots of video sharing sites apart form Youtube that you can submit videos to - some paid, some free.
When you use videos as a marketing tool, like blogging, you use keywords to attract traffic to your videos and embed links in the description under the video that take people to your
offers.
You can also pay for views (pretty cheap in fact) to get your videos seen by more. If your video goes "viral" it can bring you a lot of traffic and therefore sales.
With video you can put a face to the name and the message so not only can people read your message they can also hear you voice and see you face - presuming you shoot videos that you
actually appear in. There are other options.
The great thing about video is that anyone can do it these day - If you have a smart phone you're in business. Apple in particular have made it very easy to shoot and edit video with programmes like Imovie. So you can produce great video without being an exert these days.
I happen to be a photographer and have worked
in the AV industry so I love video and have spent some time learning some additional techniques and editing programmes.
I have to say though that the videos I have shot that get the most views are the very simple ones that show people how to do things - If I learn a new programme or technique I often shoot a video about it to help people pick it up themselves. Youtube is my first stop when I'm trying to find out how to do
something.
SFM provides detailed training on how to shoot video no matter what budget or levee of experience you have. Training also covers how to get your videos watched and how to embed links to you marketing material.
I'm part of a private SFM Facebook group where 80 of us are involved in a 90 day video challenge. We shoot a video every day for 90 days
(doh!) and comment, help and support each other's efforts.
It's bee wonderful to watch people progress from sheer terror at appearing in front of a camera for the first time to confidently presenting. The "ums" and 'er's " disappear as people get more comfortable and professional looking and sounding.
It's actually an amazing exercise to do - you discover so much
about yourself and learn tons about video - whether you are just using the mighty iPhone when out walking or have got really into it as I have - it's another great example of how this community sticks together and helps each other develop.
Video is one of the areas I can provide my team with a lot of support on.
Cheers!
Dave
