As the sun was shining in Glasgow yesterday my partner and i decided to get the roof down on the car and drive down to Ayr fro the day. She's a driving a instructor so the dies she is able to take off vary from week to week. One of the great things about  running an online business is that I can adapt to her schedule whenever I want. 

To be honest I sometimes forget what day of the week it actually is because I just have a completely different set of rules these days. I'm not on that steep - climb up the working week hill to wednesday - clock watching down hill to Friday treadmill any more. So I don't have to wait till the weekend to do simple things like taking advantage of the sun whenever it decides to show it's face. I just go. 

Anyway it being Friday we were blessed with quiet roads - at least in the direction we were going - the other side of the M8 going toward Edinburgh was one huge car park. 

In a way that's a metaphor for working in the digital economy in 2014 or still working on the traditional economy: The digital economy is the clear road going in the opposite direction from the inefficient, traffic jammed, wasteful traditional economy. 

A few years ago working this way would have been considered going against the flow but now it's really more like going with it. It's a 24/7/365 business so it's up to me when I want to work on it. If the world gives me sunshine I can and play in it - it's not like taking a sickie ! I don't have to phone the boss with a put on croaky voice then worry about being seen heading for the beach by one of the office clipes ! 

What you do have to bear in mind though is that you do have to turn up sometimes !   A day spent exploring seaside towns and walking along the beach when everyone else is working is great and really makes no difference to business but it can be habit forming and that would make a difference - eventually. 

Of course there's always the option of moving to the seaside - best of both worlds when all you need is a laptop and connection.... I hope to work with you soon....
