Digital Monday's

Published: Mon, 05/19/14

Busy start to the week ! Mondays start at 10 am with the weekly coffee call by Martyn Hickey from SFM - he's the guy in the picture and also the guy who looks after new members.

When you apply for membership to SFM they want to make sure all your questions are answered, that you know what's involved and what you are looking to achieve with your online business. Martyn or one of his team will arrange a quick chat with you by phone or Skype. It's a great way to start the relationship and make sure you don't have any unrealistic expectations or any misunderstandings.

The coffee call is a casual - touch base at the start of the week webinar that Martyn does from home. Members from all over the world log in and it's a great way to start the week and get any updates that come along. If there has been a recent event like momentum day in London last weekend, it's usually a good post event catch up too.

Following that I have a weekly video call with one of my team just to go over what we are doing in terms of marketing and to help each other out - we also make sure we are both doing what we planned to do during the week. When you work from home it is easy to get distracted so it can be good to have someone to account to ! - especially when it's sunny outside. If it is sunny I might head out to a cafe with wifi and work from there.

That takes me to lunch time so i have a break.

The rest of the day varies. I write and distribute my blog, do some social media, check on my advertising and work on that if needs be. If I've planned to do some videos I do those and if I'm on any Google hangouts with any other members I do those. I usually like to keep in touch with my subscribers and help out anyone who needs a hand.

Today for example, I'm doing a Skype call with an SFM friend in New Zealand who needs a hand with Imovie.

I usually make some time for learning as well - there are weekly training sessions on marketing from some of the world's best, workshops with jay or Stu and any number of community forums on various topics.

It's a very flexible day really and the rest of the week is the same. I can re-arrange if I want to spend some time with my partner or take advantage of the weather.

As well as my SFM business, my training has allowed me to start a web business based on Guitar playing and another promoting an energy saving product so I can chop and change what I work on depending on what I feel like doing.

I don't need to commute so I don't use an alarm clock anymore - hate them. I do still get up early sometimes though because I love being able to get done what I need to do before lunch. The rest of the day is mine to do with what I like that way.

It's a very satisfying way to live for me - don't get me wrong it's hard work - it's not as some people think, "money for old rope", but compared to being kicked out of bed at 7.30 by an alarm clock, jumping in the shower, ironing a shirt and joining the rush hour for another day of working for someone else's dreams it is in many ways a dream come true.

This is definitely not for everyone. Some people need the regular work hours and feel that the 9-5 offers security. I have no gripe with that at all but I hated it and at the end of the day there was no real security. I love being able to take responsibility for my own life, write my own pay checks and build a better life for me and mine.

At the end of the day - you came here for a reason so if anything I'm saying sounds good the next step is a small one. Submit your application - talk to Martyn - see where it goes. You have absolutely nothing to lose.

I hope to work with you soon....
