Just how much we all have in common ...
I was on the panel yesterday
on another great hangout with some SFM colleagues. You can watch the recording here if you'd like to meet some of us.
It's a real mixed bag of people on this weekly hangout, some have just joined SFM and others have been
in for much longer but everyone's contribution is valuable - that's the power of a community.
The subject line this week was "No more excuses - excuses begone", and it's a topic I think we can all relate to - this habit of making excuses for ourselves.
So during the hour or so when the hangout was live we talked about lots of reasons why we do this excuse
thing: Fear of change, fear of what others think, wrong time, overwhelm....the list goes on.
I talked about the excuses I was trying to make on Monday when I went hill climbing with my brother (i'm not as fit as he is so climbing a Munro was quite a feat for me and I wanted to give up several times)
We also talked about a number of successful people who
have had pretty valid excuses for giving up their chosen path but didn't - Professor Stephen Hawking for example, and what it is about them that stops them from giving in to the excuse temptation.
It's not really something 8 of us can solve on a Google hangout but the fact that we can acknowledge it and share some ways to combat it is great - even realising that it's not just you is beneficial!
LIke most things involved in making major changes to your life, recognising excuses for what they are is something you just need to do. Having a supportive community of people on similar journeys is invaluable. It's one of the things about being with SFM that members value most in fact. It's rare in any business and almost unheard of with online
businesses.
Best Wishes
