Happy Easter!
I hope you have a great break - if you're having one.
Me and the
better half are heading off to the seaside for an overnight and to look at a couple of houses in the area. Hopefully the Scottish weather will be kind to us as forecast but it's always nice to get a change of scene anyway.
I happened to catch an interesting little snippet on the news last night about working hours versus productivity in various countries.
It
appears that although the UK has some of the longest working hours in Europe it also seems to be the least productive. France on the other hand (the other option we are considering for our relocation) Has the lowest - actually by law - since the French take family commitments and work/life balance seriously - are amongst the most productive.
This would seem to support the old argument that it's better to work smarter than
harder. The wisdom of Leveraging technology, new systems and progress is essentially what is taught by Robert Kiyosaki in Rich dad, Poor Dad.
Many of the SFM community would agree with that. Many, like Stuart Ross himself, came from high powered corporate jobs but decided that there must be a better way to use their skills and experiences that didn't involve 70+ hour work
weeks.
Luckily the modern world and the internet in particular provide very real and very much better ways to live and still be productive but in far less time.
After all - we used to travel by horse and cart, then we invented the car. Farmer used to plough fields by hand or with Oxen - then we invented the tractor.
It's just life and progress. Learning new skills and adapting to a changing world is simply common sense.
Just a thought
Cheers !
