Hi everyone
I doubt very much if I haven't asked myself every question you may be asking yourself right now when I was considering investing in an online business. I'll cover a few at the end.
I realise that you don't know me but those that do (and I've asked them) say that honesty and frankness are two of my best qualities. You are welcome to contact me personally to decide for yourself but I wanted to share with you today the exact position I was in when I was facing the same decision.
I had some experience of the online world through a
franchised web business I had bought while I was still doing the day job. It didn't work out so I sold it. I was made redundant from a well paying job as a business development manager for an events company.
I then invested in another online business that worked very well for a time and more than replaced my previous salary. It ran into severe problems however and left me
with no income for some time. It is still around and will start paying me again soon but it won't be paying at the previous level for some time. So I knew I needed other online income streams. That's when someone I knew from same business told me about SFM.
This was my situation at that time.
I had no personal income but had saved
enough money to last me for more than a year if I was very frugal. My partner was earning enough (and was prepared to) pay a lot of the bills for a while as I did for her while she was growing her business - mortgage and household expenses were covered so that I could invest in the business initially.
Now this might seem like a scary place to be and it was but I knew that
I wanted to work online and had satisfied myself that this was the business to get serious with. I know people who have started businesses both online and offline with far less of a safety net but I'm of a more cautious nature and personally would not have done it without some kind of "security". Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't have given up on it but I would have found some part time work to keep me going. If I'd had to!
Six
months later.
I now consider myself a professional digital marketer and my SFM business has gathered considerable momentum. I've met Jay Kubassek and many of the SFM members in person. I have a growing list of subscribers and my advertising campaigns, blogs and website are generating enquiries daily. I have a good number of students and full Elite members in my team and have created several other website businesses thanks to the
training I've received. I'm helping people to start their own online businesses.
Is it a Scam?
Definitely not - I've been around the Internet long enough to recognise the difference. It's obvious what SFM/DEA do and the community of members are not the type of people who fall for your average online scam. To be honest they really are easy to spot when you've been in the
industry for a while! Contact me to discuss if you like. I definitely know more about it than your work mate who tells you everything online is a scam!
Do I have the tech skills?
You really don't need many - at least not to start. As you progress you will need to pick a few up but you have the best coaches in the world here and if all else fails there is
almost nothing you can't outsource online now and its cheap.
Can I afford it?
Honestly that has to be your decision. Starting an online business is very much cheaper to start and run than a traditional business. It is still a business though so you will have some ongoing expenses as with any business. You need to make sure the bills are being paid as I did. One
thing though - with an online business you can work on it whenever you want to so if that has to be around a job to start with then so be it.
Is now the right time?
There has never been a better time to start an online business. It's all there for you - easy to start, inexpensive and offering an enviable work/life balance. Whether it's
the right time for you is another question...... In my experience it's a terrible question - there will never be a "Right" time - you will always find ways to put it off until everything is just so - it never will be.
If' it's not going to stop you putting food on the table or paying the mortgage and if you really want this then D.I.N ! (do it now)
Talk to me! - I spoke to my SFM sponsor,
I hooked up on Skype and grilled him! Do the same. Then when you do apply you will be doing the same with an SFM adviser before taking the plunge. Trust me, neither SFM nor me want to work with people who feel they have bought into or been persuaded to join something they don't understand or couldn't afford. That's the reason for the application process.
