Hi
On the surface “The new normal” seems to have started doesn’t it
As we enjoy the heatwave that has reached western Scotland at last there are several construction projects going on
Many of the shops in our little local town have re-opened (though some never will)
My partner’s driving instruction business re-starts in a week or so and she has booked a number of new pupils as well as her existing paused pupils.
But as I wrote in my latest blog post
When we visited our parents who live on the outskirts of Glasgow and did some shopping en-route
It was obvious that things are far from good
Hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost in the UK already and our Chancellor warns that many more will be lost as a direct result of Covid 19 lockdown measures.
He also revealed that the UK GDP has dropped a record 20.4%
To put that in perspective: In the last major recession - the banking crisis - GDP in the UK dropped 1%
In the miners strikes and “winter of discontent” in the 1970’s it dropped around 10% (the previous record low)
And this is just the UK - many other countries are in a similar or worse position
Yet the Internet economy continues to boom as does the e-learning industry
My blog post hopefully explains why this in the industry and platform to be on in to have any chance of security in the worst recession in over 300 hundred years (The Guardian)
But despite all this doom and gloom the sun is shining on many of us
Have a great weekend
Bests
Dave
