On Sunday I attended my first virtual event on Zoom
Actually it was part one of 5
The event was the Digital Experts Academy annual Marketing Mastery workshop.
Normally this is a 2 day live event held in different parts of the world. This year was due to happen in Canada but we all know why that couldn’t go ahead
No one one knows that more than my friends in the Audio Visual, live events and hospitality industries
Many of them will be forced to leave an industry and lifestyle they love just to make ends meet
And a lot of the incredible skills these guys have spent years honing are simply not very transferable to other walks of life
They are just to specific - too geared to a single purpose
They also have a certain kind of attitude that doesn’t always translate too well outside of that tribe.
I wish them all the best of course but I wish they and lots of people who have been placed in the same boat by this pandemic, would start making a move NOW
Furlough’s, grants, mortgage holidays and other forms of support will be coming to an end soon and things are about to get tough
On the other hand as the hundreds of online entrepreneurs attending Sunday’s event with me can attest
The digital world - The Internet - is ticking along just fine thank you. In fact it is positively thriving.
