OI learned a couple of new phrases today
“Digital Doors” and “Low touch shopping”
The first refers to the ongoing trend that has been going on for decades but in recent months (for obvious reasons) has seen a massive surge
That is the closing of traditional doors - retail in particular - and the opening of digital doors (the Internet)
Last year for example 9,500 retail stores closed their doors permanently - without a pandemic
We can only guess how many more will close this year and beyond
The second phrase - “Low Touch Shopping”, refers, as the name suggests, to internet shopping and delivery as an alternative to actually visiting shops.
Obviously lockdown has made this a necessity rather than the luxury it was just 3 months ago
But reliable surveys show that most people don’t intend to return old school shopping any time soon - even after lockdowns are relaxed
The thing is that this has created the biggest wealth building opportunity anyone living today has ever seen……
