I got an email on that subject from a well known marketer I’m subscribed to today.
It’s a good question and one I hadn’t thought of I must admit.
That’s because I’m not taking advantage of this crisis in the way some are:
The people who are selling hand sanitisers at 10x the normal price for example
A friend sent me a video last week that a guy had filmed in his local corner shop and posted on Facebook.
In the video he showed this shop selling single toilet rolls for £10!! The shop keepers were claiming that they were being harassed and were phoning the police. The video maker was undeterred and actually asked to speak to the police.
These sorts of profiteering from terrible situations are unethical without a doubt
But is selling people who are stuck at home and spending a lot more time online, ways to create work from home businesses and alternative income streams?
I don’t think so
And when online advertising on platforms like Facebook is currently cheaper than for many years
Is it unethical to teach people how to profit from that?
Again I don’t think so
I think most of us recognise the goodies and the baddies in this scenario.
Members of the SFM community are in no doubt which they are.
We haven’t changed our message about the advantages of a home based online business after all just because a virus has forced everyone to stay at home.
We’ve been singing it from the rooftops for years!
Just so happens that more people are listening.
