I felt like s**t this morning
Something I ate I think - I’ll spare you details
But suffice to say I didn’t feel much like working
Not a big deal these days as all the online real estate I’ve built over the last few years
My blog posts, Videos and other content are evergreen and I’ve worked hard to optimise them as far as possible
So If I’m not physically working for any reason it’s no big deal really
That’s a big change from my days in the corporate world of work
Back then if I was ill an awkward call to the boss was needed
Don’t really know why it was awkward really but there you have it - I even felt guilty about not going in although to be fair the boss never laid a guilt trip on me in so many words
But that’s the corporate world for you
The whole culture seemed to make you feel that if you called in sick you were somehow letting the side down
That even extended to leaving on time rather than staying on after work hours pretending to be working as a lot of corporate types do (Often they are on Facebook or Amazon rather than selflessly sacrificing their own time for the good of the company!)
So suffice to say - I don’t miss those days
The truth is that in the online world a day or tow of serious productivity when you feel “in flow” usually produces much better results
Than 40 or 50 hours “slaving” away on the corporate treadmill
Lots of surveys suggest that the average employee is really only productive for 20% of their 9-5 day
Lets be generous and say that’s 2 hours out of 8 in a day or 10 hours out of 40 in a week
Add commuting to and from and that’s a seriously poor use of time for everyone concerned.
From the comfort of your own home in that time you could produce a well thought out, helpful blog post, a great video, a well researched ad or a number of great social media posts.
Married to the right products and services those could produce 10x what your job would pay
And could keep on doing that month after month, year after year….
Even when you’re lying in bed feeling crap and sorry for yourself
All it takes is a mindset change, some training and commitment
And you can get it all here
Anyway I really must dash 🤢🏃🏻♂️
Cheers!
Dave
