I wanted to share something with you that friends and fellow SFM members Greg and Fiona shared in an email today.
There is valuable point to this so bear with me ….
They talked about 9/11
A day I’m sure most of us will never forget.
I was an AV technician then and was travelling back to the Unit after installing a P.A system on a gorgeous Autumn morning.
The news of the first plane hitting came through the radio
By the time I got back, everyone was sitting around a TV in speechless horror
The second plane had hit - the rest is history.
Seemingly as Greg and Fiona pointed out. the design of Skyscrapers has changed as a result of that horrific day.
Along with some key structural factors, all of the controls and communications cables in tall buildings are now housed in a reinforced central column.
This means that should something similar ever happen again, lifts, telephones and other essentials will still work
And a single catastrophic event will not lead to a building’s complete collapse
That wasn’t he case on 9/11 when many poor souls above where the planes hit were trapped and killed
And as we know those incredible structures which, like the Titanic were thought to be indestructible, dissolved in front of the world’s eyes.
So the point?
Well like Greg and Fiona my income was based on a single source - my job. Like them I thought that was safe as houses
But like them that was taken away from me through one catastrophic event - redundancy.
We all realised that having multiple income sources would be far safer and that the digital economy offered that possibility
Just as new skyscrapers now have protection against acts of destruction
We now have transferable skills that allow us to create multiple income streams so we no longer have to rely on just one
These days more jobs than ever are vulnerable to attack from automation, politics, recession and the rapid march of progress
It just makes sense to diversify your income potential these days
By learning new fit for purpose skills in this frankly incredible digital economy
We got ours from SFM and started with a quick and risk free application
So can you - right here
Cheers!
Dave
