I was watching a new video of Stuart Ross’s earlier today
I’ll be sharing it with you as part of some new content I’ll be creating soon
But meantime I just wanted to share one of the points he makes in it
You know that old expression -
“If it sounds too good to be true it probably is”?
I’ve always hated that expression and so it seems does Stu
To me its always smarted of very negative thinking. There’s obviously a grain of truth in it but it comes from a different time
You used to hear it a lot about internet business ideas
The very notion that you could be running a business from coffee shops, your house or garden - anywhere you could get online
Just sounded to good to be true to many people
And many people as a result didn’t look any further into the idea or the business models that make it possible
Such a shame
Because that phrase comes from a different time
People used it when George Stephenson talked about his idea for a steam engine……
When Edison talked about the light bulb or telephone….
Space travel, the smartphone, Ipads, TV - pretty much everything we have now was subjected to that old phrase in its early days
And the truth is that the Internet is in early days comparatively speaking
If you’re 40 or over you’ve lived a lot of your life without it
But would you want to now?
Surprisingly there are still some people out there who think of an internet business as “too good to be true”.
Maybe I just find it surprising because I know so many people who are doing it now
These days when I’m presented with an amazing sounding proposition I don’t dismiss it just because of some crusty old piece of “wisdom”
I look at my Ipad or my Iphone and just think “hmmmmm……”
Cheers!
Dave
