I’m having a day off (well after I write this anyway) So shoot me ! : )
Joking aside this is one aspect of working online that I really appreciate.
Its the ability to play to your strengths basically.
Lets face it we are not performing monkeys - even if society and the traditional world would like us to be
Sometimes we wake up buzzing and ready to put in some serious productivity - sometimes we just don’t.
Thats what make the whole 9-5 thing so outmoded in today’s world
In that system we are supposed to perform like clockwork day in day out from 9am till 5pm (although usually a lot longer)
But nobody is actually created that way.
When you escape from these constraints you might find yourself working completely “in your flow” for much longer than a 9-5 shift one day
And a few hours or not at all the next
But you’ve created a ton of possibilities
Yesterday morning for example I created a video and a long blog post which I then repurposed for a Facebook ad which is now running
After lunch I got on a Skype call with my friend Alison and we worked on our Dementia Care website for a couple of hours.
I then brainstormed with another marketing friend over product ideas for that project and filled a to-do list for next week.
I woke up very early this morning with a head full of ideas.
In my experience from years of writing songs and music Its best to get up and write them down
I did that then went back to bed for a couple more hours.
When I got up I polished them up a little and emailed them to Alison before adding them to Trello - a great productivity tool we use (well worth checking out and completely free)
So I feel that I’m perfectly entitled to take a day out and spend it working on music projects (Come to think of it it’s a bank holiday weekend anyway……those always pass me by)
The great thing about this is its completely guilt free.
I have an ad running and have bolstered my online real estate considerably this week so the business can take care of itself
Coincidentally I often find that my best results happen when I’m taking a day off
The truth is when your business is online, largely automated and has a lot of evergreen content working away in the background
It never really stops working - even if you do.
Have an amazing weekend
Cheers!
