So we got a new kitten yesterday for my partners birthday
And it prompted a sleepless reminder of how none of us Feline or Human like change!
As I’d predicted the new kitten cried most of the night
And our other two beat a hasty retreat
From experience though it will all work itself out in a week or three (I hope)
We’ll all get used to each other
It’s the same when you embark on anything new don’t you think?
When you remove yourself from the familiar (even if it wasn’t actually moving you forward) and start adapting the new situation you usually find that things are much better
Cats are good at this.
When we collected the kitten we were a little dismayed at where it had spent its first 8 weeks on the planet
The owners lived in a very small house in a very busy suburb and were clearly supplementing their income by breeding and selling cats and dogs
Along with four adult cats there were 5 kittens including ours - they had already sold some of 2 recent litters
There were also 4 Pugs and 2 other small dogs.
Clearly - judging by how loud this tiny creature can cry! - competition for food and attention had been tough going.
Once she settles in she will find herself in a spacious house in a very quiet area.
She will have a big garden to play in with very little danger of being run over by a car
Our area is locally known as “Cat Heaven”.
But adjusting to this massive change will be tough for a short time
It’s the same for anyone deciding to leave the 9-5 regime behind to create a better life on the Internet
Like our two older cats, friends and relatives might react negatively to your choice
Everything for a while will seem new and slightly overwhelming
It will take some time to start seeing and appreciating the benefits
But it is soooooo worth it!
And much easier if you have experienced people around you to make the transition as comfortable as possible
Which is why joining the SFM community is such a wise move
Never mind the training, mentorship and digital business systems...
Sometimes it's great just to be able to compare notes with people in the same boat.
Cheers!
