We were woken up this morning at 6am by an intruder!
It was a mouse - closely followed by (or maybe brought in by) one of our cats
For some reason the mouse decided that our bedroom would be the place to escape to.
Being a big brave man, I got up to deal with the situation, by which time our other cat had joined in the fun
There was a lot of scurrying around under things, over things and around things
Eventually I managed somehow to herd the mouse out of the house closely followed by two balls of fur - no idea what happened next but I’d done all I could and went back to bed.
Some time later It occurred to me that this is exactly how some internet marketers operate
You become the mouse and get chased around the internet by these marketing cats until eventually they ensnare you or you escape
You know what I mean:
You click on an ad in a Youtube video you’re watching or accidentally on a social media post
Before you know it the person or product in question seems to be chasing you around the internet. No matter where you go - up they pop.
This is called re-targeting or re-marketing
Done right its an incredibly powerful strategy but done badly (as it often is) it’s very like a game of cat and mouse
But imagine if the cat rather than being intent on devouring you just wants to remind you about something you are really interested in - something that could be life changing
Maybe something you started absorbing but got interrupted for some reason, intending to come back to when you had more time.
That’s a genuine use of re-marketing and its a difficult trick to master
But that’s the exact approach practiced by and taught by SFM and DEA
If someone has expressed an interest in something you’ve introduced them to by say - subscribing for a series of videos …..
Then what’s the harm in gently reminding them of it from time to time?
But not at 6am with a mouthful of scary teeth 😼 !
That’s really all I’m doing with these occasional emails but if you are no longer interested and are starting to feel a little bit “mouselike” then please accept my apologies and unsubscribe
If not then have a great weekend and I’ll drop in again soon (but not too soon)
Cheers!
