When you stand right beside the leaning Tower of Pisa, as I did on Saturday, you cant help but ask a few questions:

 

Why is it leaning?

 

Why doesn’t it fall over?

 

How much longer till it does? 

 

Well in these wonderful days of mobile technology and the internet of everything, its easy to find out - on the spot 

 

Without paying a small fortune for the guided tour  

 

And it’s all pretty straightforward really. 

 

Google it if you’re interested but here’s the short version:

 

Not long after work started on the building back in 1192 - around when they built the 3rd layer - it was obvious that the ground was a little soft on one side and things were going sideways (s'cuse the pun) 

 

Building was interrupted often over the next few hundred years - wars, disputes - stuff like that 

 

And every time they resumed, they had learned a little more science, a little more building knowledge

 

They started making the newer layers lighter 

 

They started making them heavier on the side that wasn’t leaning 

 

They shored and under pinned the foundations. 

 

In more recent times a completely new, high tech base was created which is confidently expected to last at least another 2-300 hundred years.

 

So you see it’s all down to human intelligence, learning new skills and sound scientific and practical principles. 

 

The leaning tower of Pisa is rightly know as one of the 7 wonders of the World - it’s magnificent - but there are no hidden wires, trickery or magic involved 

 

Its the same with (In my opinion) another of the world’s wonders - THE INTERNET 

 

Lots of people I speak to just don’t get how you can make money on the internet with no products of your own, no technical prowess or geeky skills 

 

They just cant get their heads around how a couple of hours easy work a day or even a week, can generate a great or even life changing income 

 

Or they just think its all some kind of a scam 

 

But like with the wonky tower, it’s all down to facts not fiction.
