It’s funny how things change
And how those changes make some things ultra important to people that weren’t even on their radar before
Here’s an example:
My partner has her own driving instruction business. The other day she was reading an article about the probable extinction of her industry in the not too distant future
The whole global warming issue and the fact that fossil fuels will inevitably run out at some point has led to the inescapable conclusion that our cars will all be electric one day
It’s only a short jump from there to the logic that they will all (eventually) be driverless - computer controlled
The technology is improving every day and the arguments for having less cars (even for a petrol head like me) are pretty compelling
Ergo
There will be no need for driving instructors
Here's the point.....
When cars were invented, hardly anyone thought they’d catch on.
A hundred or so years later they are the norm and learning to drive is considered an essential skill - one that it’s worth paying quite a substantial amount of money to gain.
In another hundred years (probably less) it looks like almost no-one will own one
That’s just one little snapshot of how things are changing. I personally predict that physical shops will go the same way.
So will many of the industries, jobs and businesses we take for granted now - and happily spend small fortunes and many years in education to get
Actually the most important thing to learn right now is how to function in a digital world
It’ll soon be as essential as a driving licence
As always, the early adopters are the ones who reap the biggest benefits
So where are all the internet instructors? Where do we learn how to drive on the right side of the digital economy?
They are right here at SFM and DEA where they’ve been for nearly 10 years now
And they are taking on new students! - Apply here
Cheers!
