Last week I was shooting a new video for a Youtube ad.
In the opening shot my alarm going off at 6am and I grumpily switch it off. This precedes a series of clips which outline a typical 9-5 day (I had to dig deep into my memory for this lol!)
Beside the Alarm clock are a few books in the motivation/personal development sphere
I thought as a starter for the week I’d share a few of the books I’ve found most helpful
I’ll start with the classics:
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Just a fantastically inspiration collection of facts about some of the world’s most famous and successful people. How they did it, what kept them going through the dark times and lots more. Maybe most of all - how we actually define success.
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
The number one ‘manual” for a successful mindset and attitude about investment, money, work, leverage and business sense.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
Great wisdom and practical advice about understanding that we really only have “Now”, how to control our sometimes unhelpful thoughts and our place in the universe.
And here are a couple of more recent favourites:
Ask Gary Vee by Gary Vaynerchuk
The serial entrepreneur shares the answers to questions he is often asked. I won my signed copy in an SFM video competition. Fabulous book.
Mastery by Robert Greene
In a similar approach to Think and Grow Rich, Greene’s book looks at famous figures from history. Here’ though the focus is on how those figures often took a very round about way to master their various skills. Some fascinating insights and ideas.
Of course there are loads more but these are my top 5.
They are also the only ones I have in traditional book form. I tend to read books on my ipad these days.
Top tip: If you are interested in buying these books on Amazon go for the Kindle version as they are often cheaper and are usually available in audio - if that’s your bag.
Enjoy!
Cheers!
