In her spare time my partner up-cycles home furnishings which she buys from local charity shops.
The Return On Investment can be pretty good.
Last week for example she bought an old standard lamp for £3.
She sprayed the stand rose gold added a really nice shade she bought new for £5 and placed an ad on a local buy/sell Facebook group.
It sold almost as soon as the ad went live for £45 and she delivered it en route to a driving lesson the next day
Not a bad little ROI - around £35
But it would be tricky to scale that up into a really good income.
It’s time consuming - most of her stuff takes a lot more work than this example
Unless she sells locally then delivery can be an issue especially from a very rural area
We compared the kind of ROI I often make through affiliate marketing:
Since I mainly do free marketing via my Youtube channels and websites I basically have no costs beyond my initial investment in the business (which I recouped in 4 months)
On average it takes me 2 hours to shoot and upload a video. Sales from a video have earned me as much as $9200 in a single week
The videos stay online for as long as I leave them there and produce multiple sales over time. The same goes for blogs and pages on my websites which are also evergreen
Since I don’t have to worry about delivery, and can make sales anywhere in the world, I can scale up almost infinitely.
I have the option of paying for views through paid advertising and can accurately analyse the results and control the budget to maximise the ROI
You just can’t do that through any other business model.
