If you’re anything like me you find the idea of building websites a little scary
You might imagine as I did that building a website with no previous experience would be incredibly techie, complicated and difficult
You probably look at other websites and think “I could never do that”.
You might imagine that getting someone else to do it would be frighteningly expensive (it can be)
But what I found when I started doing it with the help of SFM’s training modules is that
Building a website isn’t actually that difficult. Especially on the Wordpress platform.
Since those days I’ve moved away from the free website side of things
There are some great free Wordpress themes out there and they are an excellent place to start but there comes a time when you want or need a little bit more
More integration, more plugins more features
But most of all what you want is for it to be as easy as possible
A website is a business tool after all.
Unless you actually want to be a professional website builder, your website is really just your online store front.
It needs to look good to entice people in - just like a high street shop front - but what’s actually in there is more important at the end of the day.
So you want to be able to concentrate on that stuff with as little fuss as possible
So after talking to a lot of my SFM contacts and doing some research I bought a website builder called Optimizepress.
It’s good but I have to say not all that user friendly
Recently while working with a friend on a Dementia support website I found a much better platform called Elegant themes
When working on the site I realised that Elegant themes was much better in many ways
Definitely easier, more intuitive - which is very important when you are working remotely with someone else.
I’ll be using Elegant themes for all my future websites and would suggest that if you’re looking for an easy to use, fast and user friendly website builder
You have a look at their demo site where you can take out a free trial and see what you think
Happy building!
Cheers!
