Hi
You know that old saying - If you cant beat them join them?
Well that was kind of on my mind as I wrote a new blog post (read it here) about redundancy in later life
And whether or not in that situation you should do what most people do and just try to replace what you lost with more of the same
In this case “them” is represented by what is making a lot of people redundant in later life these days - technology, automation and progress.
In my experience after being laid off twice (yes I did take another job initially) It’s much better to join “them”
But hindsight is a wonderful thing
If I had my time again I’d have joined “them” much sooner but sometimes things don’t line up just right and you have to bridge the gap until they do
Nothing wrong with that if you treat it as you do a bridge - as a temporary convenience that helps you get where you really want to be
Cheers!
Dave
