More bad news for the traditional business world over the last few days here in the UK
In
the retail world long established department store Debenhams announced that they will be closing an as yet undecided number of their hight street stores
Same for Marks and Spencer
Earlier in the year both Maplin and Toys R Us closed all branches
And in Scotland we’ve just heard that Dundee’s Michelin tyres plant will close its doors in 2020 leading to 845 job losses
Who is to blame?
Well the easy answer - at least for the retail giants - is THE
INTERNET
But actually the blame lies with these organisations themselves
Because they have simply not adjusted to the way the Internet is changing the landscape of business
It’s just easier, more convenient and cheaper to buy almost everything online
Its not quite the same for Michelin who are blaming the trend for custom tyres and the increasing number of different sizes of tyres available
But where are consumers finding these
tyres?
The Internet of course
So the truth is that as businesses and individuals we need to face facts
EVERYTHING is changing
If we try to ignore it or tell us ourselves that WE will be ok - “It won’t affect my job/business/career”
Like M&S, Maplin, Toys R Us, Comet and many other household names did
We’re asking for trouble.
Whether you want to jump straight into online entrepreneurship or just make yourself ready for the different types of work this revolution will demand
Aligning yourself with the new leaders, mentors and trainers who can get you there
Is a complete no-brainer
SFM are those guys and you can apply to join their global community right here
Alternatively you can continue to watch from the sidelines as the world moves on
And see how that works out…..😬
Cheers!
