Busy times here at Castlehill - and we came here for peace and quiet LOL : )
We’ve had weekend guests for the last
three, My brother is heading over for a couple of days tomorrow and then we head off to Madrid the following weekend.
Without fail, when friends or family come to stay with us - even if they’ve been many times before - they always comment on the view from the front of the house, which looks over a long stretch of sea between us and the Ayrshire coast.
In fact they often spend hours sitting at our dining table taking in the view from the bay window
This always makes me think about how we get used to things and can start taking them for granted
We both still take some time every day to
appreciate our surroundings but at the same time we are pretty used to living our daily lives against this backdrop
But here’s the thing
Isn’t it better to get used to really great things instead of pretty crappy things?
It kind of sets the bar higher for what you are prepared to put up with in life
But so many of us put up with, get used to and take for granted a way of life that deep down we aren’t really happy with
Realising that in today’s world we can choose where we live, how much we can earn and
who we spend our time with
Without being restricted by the limitations of having to turn up to the same place 5 days a week or more for 8 hours or more per day.
week after week, month after month, year after year ……..
Has been one of the best discoveries I’ve ever made - ironically I now take it for granted!
So when our visitors comment on the view from our place, I raise a glass to THESE GUYS
And thank them for opening my eyes to that
Cheers!
