Its often said that learning how to be resourceful is the key skill of the entrepreneur
I was reminded of that this morning when an email dropped into my in box from an insurance company I do occasional photography for.
This one of the “gigs” I discovered when I was just getting my online business started.
Having been made redundant I was funding myself with my modest
settlement and savings
My partner had just started her driving instruction business so her income wasn’t great at that time.
So I had to look for income streams wherever I could find them.
At that point we were still
living in the big city so I got quite a few insurance photo jobs. I also sold my own photographs online and did a little freelance work in the AV field.
All of these little gigs kept us going until I started making some serious money with my main SFM online business
I don’t need to do then anymore and
having moved to a very rural part of Scotland, they don’t come up very often. But I still do them when they come in - why not?
Again - being resourceful - When I’m out doing insurance photos I have my camera with me and am in a beautiful place. So I don’t waste the opportunity to do some landscape/seascape shots which I can then add to my online portfolio.
In a rural location you just have to be resourceful in general anyway. I just laid my first carpet to soundproof our music room, and I’m harvesting the apples from our tree to make cider.
I’m talking about this because I really beleive that being resourceful is about the best thing you can do to improve your lot in life.
Learning modern skills is just another example of resourcefulness
When you think about what’s possible in the modern world with skills like internet marketing, affiliate marketing and e-commerce...
... you soon realise that its worth
finding ways to fund your education - and as I’ve hopefully demonstrated - there are no shortage of “gigs” that’ll do that for you.
You just have to look
Another great way to be resourceful is to take advantage of free stuff
Like for example SFM’s FREE TRIAL offer
Do yourself a favour and check it out - it’s free…….
