I nipped down to our local shop and post office this morning for some milk
Outside a
lady was canvassing locals on a proposed community buy out of the shop - its been for sale for several years
Knowing as I do the power of community through my membership of the SFM community I had quite a long chat with her
We talked about Uber, Airbnb, Amazon - the digital world in general and
specifically how it can be of help on a local basis
The plans include turning the flat above the shop into a community hot desk facility and art gallery
I’ve agreed to show up to a stakeholder’s meeting on Wednesday to hear more and to see if there are areas I can possibly get involved
in
As we talked I began to realise just how useful the digital skills I’ve gained over the last few years could be to my own local community
It feels good
The digital economy with it’s automation, disruptive
business models and all the rest of it is, we agreed, both exciting and scary
There are so many businesses, local communities and individuals out there in danger of being left behind
And that creates so many opportunities for people with the sort of skills you can really only get from entrepreneurial
organisations like SFM and DEA
Not just to make a great living and build an enviable lifestyle for ourselves but to help others to “get with the programme” and do the same.
There is just so much you can do with what used to be called internet marketing
skills but should now just be called leadership
Its a simple formula - Learn + pass it on = abundance for all.
Cheers!
