On Saturday I popped through to Glasgow to meet up with 5 other Scottish SFM members for the second Scottish monthly meetup.
I’m so glad I made it although at one point I didn’t think I would.
You see we live on the Cowal Peninsula and normally we take a short ferry trip “over the water” to Gourock from where it’s a 30 minute drive to Glasgow.
On Saturday however when we got to the ferry there was a massive
queue. The wind was causing severe problems.
After sitting in the queue for an hour watching the ferry we had just missed struggling in the waves we decided it wasn’t going to happen and pulled out to head home.
But in the end we decided just to drive round the long way and I’m so glad we
did.
Because although I love the freedom of working from home and have plenty of contact with the outside world via Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp and messenger, you still cant beat face to face contact
Especially when its with a group of seriously committed people who are on the same journey.
Most members of SFM and DEA will tell you that it’s the community side of things they value most.
We get the chance to do that at regular events all over the world, but there are more and more of these local groups springing up all over the place.
It’s just another of
the things that make this community so special.
Cant wait for the next one!
Cheers!
