I read an interesting article yesterday by Leon Ho (Founder an CEO of Lifehack)
It was all about that old dilemma
Work/life balance.
He suggests that rather than keeping the two separate as most people do, its better to try and align work and life.
Instead of Work being all negative - a necessary evil to suffer through till its time to switch off
And Life being all positive - when you do the things you actually want to do
Its better to try and find some positives in work just as
there are some negatives in life
He might have a point but easier said than done for 95% of us apparently
Since less than 5% of the population find both work and life equally positive
That’s definitely the case for the majority of people I speak to about starting an online business through SFM
Leon goes on to suggest you make a blueprint “Of a unified self, charged with meaning that relates directly to who you are and what you care about”
In other words
- blur the lines between work and life
This Blueprint Idea was familiar to me from my SFM training - its a big part of the set up process for new members.
The difference is that SFM’s Blueprint is all about defining your ideal life then systematically building it.
And though I agreed with Leon to this point I think he misses a crucial fact:
No matter how you change the way the way you feel about working for someone else - you’ll never be able to change the biggest problem in the work/life balance equation
TIME
In the standard 9-5, Mon-Fri, 40/40/40 work system you simply don’t have
enough time to enjoy the LIFE part!
On the other hand if you learn how to fully leverage what the Internet has made possible by using systems to automate a lot of the WORK…..
Then as if by “magic” you have a lot of time to do with as you see fit.
But its not magic at all - its just the way things are now.
Its just a case of re-educating yourself. You can start HERE
Cheers!
