Are you stuck in an “uncomfortable” comfort zone?
If I’ve learned anything over the last few years - reinforced by the
workshops I’ve presented for SFM over the last two weeks…
It’s that the old cliche “The magic happens outside your comfort zone” is absolutely true.
Comfort zones are suffocating, that’s a fact.
They stop from you from making any progress in life - and if you really think about it - how comfortable are they in reality?
Your comfort zone might be your job - it was for me and I’d probably have stayed in it for years if my hand hadn’t been forced by redundancy. I’d probably still be in it in fact.
My comfort zone was OK. I had a decent job with a decent salary. A nice house and a nice car - couple of holidays per year - Mr Normal.
But I was constantly thinking, as I dragged my suit on in the mornings before heading out for my daily commute - how did I end up here? Is this it?
What happened to the dream?
It was like that old song by the talking heads “Once In A Lifetime”.
Luckily life had other plans for me - or rather I got a wake up call, that day the boss said:
“There are going to be more redundancies and you’re one of them Dave” (or words to that effect)
At the time, as the reality of that sunk in I’d have happily shot him!
But now, in the unlikely event I ever see him
again I think I’d hug him!
If I could offer one piece of advise especially in these uncertain times it would be to stop waiting for the “right time” to escape the cloying comfort zone (rut) you find yourself in.
The only right time is NOW
When an opportunity comes along (and trust me, that’s not too often) like it did when you got those videos you subscribed fro from SFM

Doing those live workshops recently was well outside my comfort zone I can tell you but I committed
to doing them, prepared as best I could and just did it.
When the time came it was a case of - You’re live in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 !
And the comfort zone disappears to be replaced by something far more exciting.
Cheers!
