Over the last couple of days my partner and I drove around 700 miles.

We were picking up her new business car.

We had sourced in online at about £1000 cheaper than the same car would have cost locally - hence the long drive. 

We also arranged to have the dual controls fitted while we waited, got a great trade in on the old car and a full tank of petrol included (which got us home with plenty to spare) 

The new car has cruise control which made the journey home very relaxed.

I couldn’t help thinking that as we drove my business was also on cruise control! 

That’s because, like cruise control on a car - it leverages systems that make life easier 

That’s the world we are living in now - and we should absolutely embrace it 

It’s easy to see how systems, automation and A.I are changing our world beyond recognition - whether we like it or not

Cars are now routinely fitted with adaptive cruise control which sets your speed according to the distance from the car in front - so you hardly even have to touch the little steering wheel switch or the brake on a long drive. 

It’s just a short step from there to self driving cars (already with us) 

It’s a no brainer that this will make driving safer, less stressful and when all cars are hybrid or electric - much more economical. 

Ok so this is sad for petrol heads like me but at the same time I absolutely support it as I do all forms of progress

Progress has allowed me to create an income on “cruise control”, live where I want to and travel where and when I want to. 

It’s allowed me to take my foot off the pedal so to speak: The 9-5 lifestyle, the traditional business that needs constant attention. 

I also couldn’t help but marvel at how our entire trip - finding the car, negotiating the deal, booking a hotel, navigating to the hotel, then the car dealership, and around the town to find restaurants etc 

Was done on an internet connected phone. 

I’m old enough to remember how things were before the Internet 

I’d never want to go back to that! 

Put your life on cruise control - its only evolution - or as I christened it last night - FREEVOLUTION!
