So I had hoped to share a video with you today but I ran into a problem. Its taking literally forever to upload to Youtube.
Very frustrating
Instead then lets look at a few reasons why this can happen in case you’re having the same problem.
My first thought is that the problem is being caused by TubeBuddy - a pretty good little add on I mentioned a while back.
Great though it is, I noticed that my uploads were taking much longer. Around 3 hours whereas a similar video used to take about an hour.
Not too bad in itself as you can always do other things while it chunders away in the background.
24
hours (and counting) however is just not on!
So I have temporarily removed Tubebuddy from my channel.
Tubebuddy aside here are some other reasons this could be happening.
Size of video: By this i mean file size. If
you’ve added some fancy animations or the video is longer than usual it will take longer. Most editors allow different export file sizes. Maybe re-export in a smaller size. 720p is fine for Youtube and a lot smaller than full 1080p
Connection speed: Sometimes this drops for a day or two. If your internet is slow in general that could be it. Wait it out or contact your provider to report a
problem.
Just a glitch: Sometimes thats all it is. Cancel the upload and try again. The good news is that your video will start uploading from the point it stopped. The bad news is that you’ll have to add your description and tags again.
Tips: Get all the components ready before you ever start an upload: Description,
tags, thumbnail. etc and save them in a file on your computer. Then if you need to add them again its just a quick copy and paste.
Use templates: As above keep everything in a file and just overwrite the description parts for each new video. Saves a ton of time : )
I’ll share my video next time (assuming
it finally uploads) and let you know if Tubebuddy was the problem.
It would be ironic though since the whole point of it is to save time and effort!
C’est la vie!
Cheers!
