So we finally got it together on Friday night and as always overcoming inertia paid dividends!
For ages now since I
did some recordings for a local band we’ve all been saying “We must get together for a jam session and a drink”.
Yes we are all busy people in our own ways but really the reason its taken so long is just inertia - on our part.
You see the band have a perfect set
up: A purpose built cabin that is a fully equipped rehearsal and recording space in a gorgeous isolated location.
But for us getting there meant packing our instruments and equipment into the car and driving ten miles.
Then, as we would be having a few drinks, getting ourselves home
somehow and picking the car and kit up the following the day.
To be honest, like most people, when work ends on Friday evening, all we really want to do is have a nice meal, some wine and unwind in front of the TV.
But we can do that any
time!
So instead we just did it!
The result was a wonderful night of music, laughs and new friendships.
The drummer (who wasn’t drinking) Gave us a lift to town where
we intended to grab a taxi home.
Instead, as it was a beautiful night, we walked home on the coast road. So we also got some exercise and saw several Heron’s swooping over the flat calm, midnight sea.
Way better than TV!!
With so many things in life, inertia holds us back from doing incredible things - we cant be bothered.
Its the same with starting an online business.
You think of having to build it while
doing a tiring 9-5 job: More work in the evenings and weekends. And you just cant be bothered.
But think of it this way: You probably first looked into the idea because you hate the 9-5 job!
Yes you will have to do do some work
But the payback -
especially when the process is made as simple as it can be (SFM) is enormous.
So just do it! - Overcome the inertia and reap the rewards. Let everyone else veg out in front of the TV
