My other half and I are going for a jam session with some local friends tomorrow night. Ok so it’ll be a bit of a party too but hey - It’s Friday night! 

Anyway as I was putting a new set of strings on my trusty Les Paul today I was reminded of how I very nearly gave up on the guitar not long after I got my first electric.

You see it was almost impossibly difficult to play. The strings were too thick and the action was way too high.

Being a country boy and having no friends who played guitar at the time, I just didn’t know that all these things could be fixed - easily - if you know how. 

They say the teacher comes when the pupil is ready and thats what happened with me and the guitar.

So I got it back out of the cupboard, made the adjustments, changed the strings and fell back in love with it. 

If that hadn't happened I wouldn’t have started writing songs 

I wouldn’t have got into bands - where I met the love of my life

I wouldn’t have played live in loads of different countries, learned how to record and produce music, signed autographs or done a support tour with one of my all time favourite bands

In, short I would have missed out on a whole lot of incredible experiences and the course of my life would have been completely different. 

And I honestly have to say that it was similar with my internet career.

I had tried a couple of things with varying degrees of success but I just couldn’t get a sustainable income out of it.

I was ready to give it up.

Then - like with the guitar - the teachers came along just when I needed them most
