One of the jobs I see going soonest has to be telesales…
No offence meant if that’s what you do - I did it myself for
years (although not the pushy, hard sell type that’s prompted me to write this today)
To me cold calling by phone is obtrusive, annoying, utterly pointless and going the way of the Dodo very soon.
Why?
Because
we have the Internet!
We can research ANYTHING on there, in our own time, from wherever we want.
We don’t need someone phoning us out of the blue to help us save money on utilities, claim PPI, get insurance or anything else.
Especially not when we are busy, just home from work or about to eat dinner!
We are bombarded with this stuff everywhere we look already and have all the resources we need to make informed decisions and purchases online - and we often save money anyway when we do.
Soon the
few people who are actually good at telesales (as I was) will realise that they can reach a far bigger audience on the internet.
(and in better ways)
They can sell almost anything and will never need to pick up a phone again to do it!
They
also won’t have to work in call centres, follow cheesy scripts and prompts, ask permission to go to the toilet or chase targets (part from the ones they set themselves)
Then we’ll all be happier!
It’s simply a case of getting the education that works in today’s world.
Rant over!
Cheers!
