An important update on Youtube 

A great Resource I’ve just found.

These will be particularly useful if video and blogging are of interest to you and are part of your online business activity.

First off Youtube:

On 2nd May Youtube will be getting rid of annotations.

Annotations are a method of turning a message or an area in your video into a clickable link.

I’ve been using these to great effect for some time now so I’ll be sad to see them go. 

The good news is though that any annotations added to videos before 2nd may will still work although they won’t be editable. 

Youtube are doing this because annotations only work on desktop not on mobile devices and they have found a marked decrease in people watching video on desktop.

After 2nd May you will be able to add cards and end screens to you Youtube videos. These offer the same functions as annotations but work on all devices. 

Youtube say that cards and end screens are in fact 5 times more effective than annotations anyway so basically this is all good! 

Second - Medium: https://medium.com/

Medium is a mobile platform for writers and bloggers. Its free to sign up for.

It provides another way for you to repurpose your blog content and to post fresh content to the hungry mobile world. 

If you also use IFTTT you can automatically add your latest blog post to Medium as soon as you publish it on your blog. Nice.
