If you were to ask me what the number one quality you need to have or acquire to be successful online - or in anything I think
I’d say it was resourcefulness.
For example - saving money to invest in a online business that has the power to set you up for life.
The other day I went to switch on our 50 inch Plasma TV but just got a “click”……. and a flashing red
light.
I tried a few times with just the same result: No picture, no sound - dead as a doornail.
So I went straight to the number one resource all of us have - Google - for a spot of diagnosis.
Turns out that the flashing red light was a code telling what the problem was. The main power board.
So I called the very few local TV repair people who quoted an exorbitant sum just to come and have a look and tell me what I already knew. To repair said fault would cost an expensive labour charge plus the cost of a new
part.
At this point most people would resign themselves to buying a new one - and if that came from money being saved for an investment - one of those “out of the blue” expenses that always seem to come come around at the worst possible time - what a bummer!
And ANOTHER excuse to put off
that investment even longer!
But being quite a resourceful chap I decided to fix it myself. Another Google search dug up some Youtube videos explaining exactly how to do it.
(I do have a background as an AV tech so am aware of all
the precautions around electrical stuff)
But really it’s just a case of buying the part, undoing a gazillion screws, un-hooking a few wires, then doing the same in reverse with the new part.
So a saving of a good few hundred buckaroos!
In my case that was basically my marketing budget for the month.
Resourcefulness is often just a case of challenging your automatic (cave man) thoughts and impulses.
In this case mine told me told to just buy a new TV - the
path of least resistance - the easy way out.
I’ve never found that following that path leads anywhere good in the long run
So I urge you to challenge yourself and be more resourceful.
Cheers!
