While standing at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin last week I was approached by a pretty young girl with a piece of paper in her hand.
Through sign language she told me she was deaf and dumb and pointed to the piece of paper.
It looked like a petition of some sort but on closer inspection turned out to be a request for a donation of €10.
There were areas for you to write
your name address and the amount you donated. There were quite a few entries.
As my partner will tell you, I’m a bit of a soft touch for these things (especially when I’ve just been looking at hundreds of disturbing photos in the “Topographie Des Terrors” museum) near the remains of the Berlin wall.
So I handed over the 10 spot - which quickly disappeared into a grubby pocket.
But then as my partner came over to see what was happening, she too was approached by a young guy doing the same thing.
He and the young girl started getting pretty forceful about getting another 10
euros out of us.
My partner - a Glasgow girl - sent him packing sans another €10!
Over the next half hour or so as we wandered around the area we realised that this was a scam. There were quite a few similar looking kids doing it - with a good level of success.
It just goes to show how easy it is - even for experienced travellers - to fall for a clever scam.
And the same goes for investing in an internet business - X10!
That’s why after being with SFM and DEA for just over a year I recorded a video explaining the difference between a typical internet scam and what SFM and DEA do.
That was over 2 years ago and I’m still reaping the rewards of that investment.
I recently uploaded that
video to my new channel - You can watch it here
My life has actually changed a lot (for the better) since then and SFM and DEA have gone from strength to strength but I still stand by every word I say in it and wanted to share it with you.
I hope it answers any questions you may have
And if you are ever in Berlin or as I’ve since learned, any major European city’s landmarks - Don’t fall for the deaf mute scam!
Cheers!
