I just back from a couple of days in Berlin where I turned 52. My partner and I try to make a point of having out birthdays’s somewhere different every year.
Which also means we tick off another item from our bucket lists.
So yes we had some great food and some birthday drinks but lets face you can do that anywhere.
We were more focussed exploring as much of the
city as we could in the two nights and one full day we spent there.
Given the size of the place we decided to focus on the areas near to and including the Berlin wall site.
If you are a friend on Facebook I’ll be posting lots of images like the one above because the two things that struck me most about this
trip were
Freedom
Creativity.
The freedom part is obvious - the overthrow of oppression and terrible systems symbolised by the coming down of the
wall and all it represented.
The creativity inspired by that is everywhere in Berlin: The art, the ingenious entrepreneurialism and the sense of identity.
It made me appreciate the freedom the internet has given me and everyone who embraces it. Its something we SHOULD be able to take fro
granted.
That’s also the message that SFM and DEA are putting out there as well as the tools, training and resources needed to achieve it in the digital world.
Its also worth mentioning that digital technology like the internet and all the stuff that has grown from
it has seriously changed our world.
I didn’t take my laptop as I usually do when I travel.
I just took my Iphone.
It enabled me to find my way around this vast city, book airline tickets, scan boarding
passes, translate from English to German and do video calls to my friends from some amazing landmarks.
It really is amazing whatever your age - to someone who just turned 52 having grown up without all this stuff it’s like a wall coming down!
Embrace it if you haven’t
already - Learn how right here.
Haben Sie einen großen Tag!
Cheers!
